# 2018 MA/MFA Degree Show

### The show is booked for **2nd-16th September** in StJames Hathcham building, aka the Church.

#### 2018 Exhibition-specific guidelines:

1. Exhibition Time Line
 - **17th August**: Risk Assessment Deadline
 - **27th August**: Begin build.
 - **6th September**: All works complete and ready for examination by 10am
 - **6th September**: Exhibition opening from 6-9pm
 - **10-14th September**: Pack-down.
2. Risk Assessments

 - Completion of risk assessment is a legal requirement of any public exhibition
 - In the risk assessment form you will outline:
    - Requested equipment
    - Power requirements
    - A description of any blackout space/ suspended items/ height work
    - High voltage (above 48v) equipment used
    - Combustible materials
    - Risks your work poses during installation and to the public
 - Failure to submit form will affect allocation of equipment provided by the department.
 - No work or installation will be allowed in the show without a completed risk assessment process.
3. Equipment reservation and booking
 -  Students can request the equipment they deem appropriate for their needs
 -  TechTeam reserves the right for final decision on equipment choice considering the needs of the exhibition group as a whole and availability of equipment
 - **Maximum 1 projector or 1 large screen per person**
 - **Maximum 1 iMac per person**
 - **Maximum 3 items in total per person**
4. Installation and setup
 - **You require previous permission from TechTeam to**:
    - Paint the walls or floors
    - Erect, remove or alter structural elements
    - Install any work of 1.5m (or greater) above floor level
    - Suspend any object.
    - Do anything that will potentially need to be undone after the degree show.
 - No teaching equipment or IT services machinery to be be moved. Technicians will remove on request.
 - All changes of this nature should be described in advance in the Risk Assessment form.
5. Exhibition Equipment & invigilation
  - **Each participant is responsible for their own equipment or equipment they borrowed from the Department**
  - **No equipment is to be swapped or exchanged without techTeam confirmation**
  - **No equipment, unless secured suitably or invigilated, is to be left over night in the space**
  - **If equipment has to be left in spaces a designated invigilator must remain in the space until 10pm**
  - **Once Security lock up, equipment is considered safe to leave out over night.**
  - Invigilation has to start with Security unlocking the space in the morning.
  - The Department is not responsible for any personal belongings left in public exhibition spaces.
6. Space Pack-down, repairs and restorations.
 - **All space must be returned to its previous state and condition**.
 - Walls will be repaired, holes filled and painted white by you.
 - The floors will be repainted (by you) with floor paint provided by us, allow two days drying time in all cases.
 - The Department will provide a skip, outside SJH/Church , all waste must be removed and thrown out.
 - Any works people wish to keep must be taken with them.
 - The Department **cannot** provided any storage of works.
